In August of 2023, Maine Savings Federal Credit Union proudly announced the purchase of the historic Hampden Congregational Church in Hampden, Maine. With church services concluding in June 2023, the acquisition presented a unique chance for Maine Savings to breathe new life into the property. Preserving the personal and historic connections to the property, President and CEO Vanessa Madore recalled fond childhood memories. She expressed deep passion not only professionally but also personally for the property.

In addition to its historical relevance, the church has hosted the Hampden Food Cupboard - a connection Maine Savings intends to nurture and strengthen. The credit union contributes annually to the Maine Credit Union League’s Campaign to End Hunger in Maine and directly to the food cupboard, fostering a symbiotic partnership. The vision for the property includes restoring the nave for community use and providing further professional facilities, including a workforce training space and a renovated parsonage.
